Below is a sample email you may use to notify your clients of the option to use your Internet data collector.

If you wish to use the entire text below, simply click the Highlight all button, then copy the script (press [Ctrl-C] on your keyboard or use your right-mouse button and select "Copy") into an email program (e.g. Outlook or Eudora), customize it to fit your firm, and send it to your clients.

Of course, you might prefer to copy the text and edit it any way you see fit, or even use entirely different text.

Subject:  Supply your tax information over the Internet
This year, for the first time, our firm is pleased to introduce its Internet data collector. With the data collector, you can provide all your tax information over the Internet from wherever you are, using a simple interview method that will help speed up the processing of your return.
Here’s how it works:
Call our office at <your number> and ask for <contact person> any time between <XX:XX and XX:XX Monday to Friday> to get your confidential username and password.
Visit our Web site at <www.yourfirm.com> and click the link to the data collector. You will be asked to enter the username and password which you have been given. Our data collector is protected by the strictest encryption standards available. Please ensure that your username and password remain secure.
Once in the data collector, you will find that your name and address have already been entered in the "Identification" section. We recommend that you use the "Next" button to move through the input screens. If you require entry fields that were not displayed automatically, click "Interview setup" to identify any additional items which are relevant to your tax situation.
You may log off at any time and return at your convenience using the link on our Web site together with your username and password. You may add notes to your input using the "Notes" link on the left of the screen.
When you return, you may prefer to jump to specific topics listed on the left to edit or add items. Click the garbage can icon to delete all entries on the adjacent screen.
When you have completely finished entering information and do not intend to return to the data collector, click the "Submit tax file" button to let us know that we may now begin processing your tax return.
To comply with the CRA’s third party liability rules, we will still need to receive your tax slips and have your signed T183 on file before efiling your return. A copy of that form is attached.
