Quebec income tax
Further to the release of Information Bulletin 2005-03 of March 11, 2005,
the following summarizes the position taken by the Ministère du Revenu du Québec
regarding the contents of the Bulletin as well as its instructions to software
developers:
In view of the late publication of the Bulletin, the obvious
repercussions involved in modifying our processing systems during
the rush period, and upcoming details on the implementation of
the measures, we have opted not to take any steps for the time
being.
Therefore, we ask that you do not alter your software.
The tax returns affected by the new measures will be retrieved
after the rush period, and any necessary corrections will be made
at that time.
Federal filing deadline
This year, because April 30 falls on a Saturday, you have until midnight on
May 2, 2005, to file your 2004 income tax return either electronically or on
paper. If you have a balance owing, you will avoid being charged a late
filing penalty by sending your return to the CRA by May 2.
If you (or your spouse or common-law partner) are self-employed, you have until
midnight on June 15, 2005, to file your return. However, you still have to
pay amounts owing by May 2, 2005.
Quebec filing deadline
As April 30 falls on a Saturday this year, Québec taxpayers have two extra
days to file their personal income tax returns for 2004. The returns must be
filed by 11:59 p.m. on Monday, May 2, 2005.
Revenu Québec's Montréal office located at Complexe Desjardins will therefore
be open until 11:59 p.m. on Monday, May 2, 2005, to allow taxpayers to submit
their returns.
