 Advice for DT Max T2 users

Stay current

DT Max T2 version 9.27 is essential in calculating returns past April 30th 2006.

Keeping your DT Max T2 version always up-to-date means you have a version that contains the latest federal and provincial certifications so you can smoothly calculate and print your T2 returns without warnings and error messages.

To verify under which version of any DT Max product you are operating, please select About DT Max from the Help menu and scroll down the list to Program Versions.

Install latest licence key

Each time you renew your DT Max T2 license, we send you a new 16-digit license key, both by post and email, once payment has been received. The licence key encompasses all your DT Max products and extends the validity of your T2 licence for an additional year.

Tips on installing your T2 licence key

  • Remember to apply the latest licence key to each of your databases. That is especially important to remember if your T2 database is in a different folder than your T1.
  • If you do not have a federal T2 Efile agent number, please enter "XXXXX" in the corresponding field or else the licence key will be deemed invalid.
  • Use CAPITAL LETTERS when entering the key.
  • Remember you must restart DT Max for the new licence to take effect.
  • Recalculate the client files that generated error messages with Alt-F9 or Recalculate this client from the Tools menu. This is a common operating rule under DT Max in order for altered system parameters (licence, preferences, etc.) to take effect.

 Post season message for TP-1 preparers

Our support team has received many calls from DT Max T1 users whose clients' Quebec TP-1 returns were assessed with an unexpected adjustment on line 404.

This is due to an amount which appeared in box O of Relevé 5 Benefits and indemnities. This amount automatically triggers the calculation of the adjustment by Revenu Quebec.

The back of the Relevé 5 Benefits and indemnities slip reads as follows:

Adjustment respecting income replacement indemnities for the previous year. Revenu Québec will make any necessary adjustment, where applicable.

There is NO need to:

  • Enter the amount of box O in DT Max;
  • Enter an amount on line 26.1 of form TP-776.42 (Minimum tax);
  • Request an adjustment via line 404 of the return.
