UFile.ca offers free tax software to taxpayers age 60 and over

MONTREAL, February 17, 2005 / CNW Dr Tax Software Inc. of Montreal is pleased to announce that again this year, it will make its online tax product UFile.ca free to all seniors on the last Friday of February, known as "FreeFile Friday".

This tax season, February 25th will be set aside to give Canadians age 60 and over the opportunity to prepare and file their tax returns online at no charge at all using UFile.ca.

This special offer does not require that the tax return be completed and filed on FreeFile Friday. Those taking advantage of the offer need simply go to www.ufile.ca on the last Friday of February, open a new or existing tax file, and accept this limited time offer. By following the instructions, they may return whenever they like to complete and file their return at no charge.

"UFile has always provided access to free software for taxpayers with income of $20,000 or less. Given the success of FreeFile Friday last year, we simply had to offer it again in 2005", says Malcolm Campbell, Vice-President and General Manager of Dr Tax Software Inc., makers of UFile.ca.

This is UFile.ca's 6th year on the Internet. Last tax season, UFile.ca was responsible for nearly half of all tax returns NetFiled using an online tax product. UFile can prepare tax returns for all provinces and is available in French as ImpôtExpert.ca.

Again this season, UFile is also sold in all Future Shop and Best Buy stores as a product that can be installed on a personal computer. It uses the same easy-to-learn method and tax calculation engine as UFile.ca, the online product. The calculation engine behind UFile has been widely used by Canadian tax professionals for over 15 years.
