Free File Friday is back as UFile builds on its commitment to making tax filing easier for all Canadians
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
February 1, 2008
February 1, 2008 - Montreal, Quebec - Dr Tax Software, the makers of UFile.ca and UFile for Windows, is pleased to announce that Friday, February 29th marks the return of Free File Friday, which provides Canadians age 60 and over the opportunity to prepare and file their tax returns online, at no charge, using UFile.ca.
This special offer does not require that the tax return actually be completed or filed on that particular day. If you are 60 years of age or older and would like to take advantage of Free File Friday, simply go to www.UFile.ca on February 29th and open a new or existing tax file. One of the benefits of UFile.ca is that participants can prepare their tax return with no obligation, and can print or NetFile whenever they are ready.
"Free File Fridays is just another example of our commitment to making tax filing easier for all Canadians," says Malcolm Campbell, Vice President and General Manager of Dr Tax Software Inc., makers of UFile.ca. "UFile will also be used by the Canadian Revenue Agency's (CRA) Community Volunteers Income Tax Program (CVITP), to assist people who are unable or do not know how to complete their income tax and benefit returns."
Canadians with incomes under $20,000 can also use UFile file for free at any time during the year.
UFile's calculation engine has been used to prepare millions of tax returns for all provinces and territories. Those who choose to participate in Free File Fridays can take advantage of UFile's powerful MaxBack refund analyzer, which saves money by finding every possible deduction and transfer to minimize their taxes and maximize their refund. Last tax season, over 46 per cent of web software users chose UFile.ca to NetFile their tax return.
Available online since 2000, UFile.ca was one of the first online tax products certified for NetFile by the CRA. Owned and operated by Canadians, UFile can prepare tax returns for all provinces and is available in French and English. UFile is also available in retail stores, which allows consumers to complete and electronically file their personal income taxes through NetFile for $19.99. The online version, UFile.ca, starts at $15.95.
